How It's Made

Handmade by the women of the Wayuu indigenous community of northern Colombia these Wayuu bags are made with great care. The crochet pattern on this bag is woven using a double acrylic thread. Each design on every bag is entirely unique to its weaver, which makes each bag an original piece! Plus, a story is woven into the designs, which is told through the bag’s colors, patterns, and shapes that the individual artist has created.

About the Maker

IndiArts Collective

I am Valentina - the proud owner of IndiArts. I may be a Colombian living in Canada since 2008, but my heart beats for indigenous culture and traditions. That's why I founded this brand - to pay homage to and support these incredible communities. We are Indiarts Collective, a Vancouver-based social enterprise on a mission! We're all about showcasing the amazing skills and culture of South American indigenous artisans and giving them a platform to share their handmade bags, accessories and jewelry with the world. The best part? Every item has a story to tell. We work side by side with our artisans in Colombia, Peru, and Mexico to create one-of-a-kind designs that celebrate their unique cultural heritage.

Join us in our mission to empower and uplift artisan communities and enjoy some stunning and special handmade goods while you're at it!
